Was mode 1 thumbs on the planks for years. Moved across to helis and now mode 2 pinch/thumb combo.

Yes, because i use reasonably low expo i use a combination between pinch and thumbs. I also like really sharp stick ends so the sticks dont slip of the thumbs. Boy i miss flying, up here in sydney at the moment...

I may need to investigate this further now that I'm learning to actually "fly" my 450, instead of toying with little micro-helis. I've recently found myself feeling a tendency to want to pinch instead of thumb anyway.

Mode 2 I think. I keep forgetting which is which. Currently thumbs, but the sticks tends to be slippery, so I'm kinda on the fence, thinking of pinching instead for safety reasons. Again still unsure which is best. Thumbs tends to be more comfortable for me, but slippery. Things may change in the future though.

Depending on which radio you use, optional sticks can be had that can solve that problem. Go and Google "RC transmitter stick ends" and you will see many styles for Spektrum, JR, Futaba, etc.

I use a hybrid grip on the gimbal sticks. IE thumb on top and pinching finger (my first finger) against the top of the stick. It provides a good form of control and when i want to just use thumbs, ie pirofips, my first finger disengages.

That's my way also @smakmeharder and I keep my sticks short. Only half Piro's for me.

Short sticks allow for quicker reactions. I like shorter sticks as well @Captain.
