I received the conversion kit a few days ago from Gaui USA/Empire Hobby, to convert my X7 Formula helicopter to an X7FZ. The kit consists of a lower frame set and a battery tray, and only takes about 30 minutes to install. You simply remove the existing stock lower frames, and bolt the FZ frames into place.

What this conversion does, is changes the battery pack mounting system from saddle packs, to stick packs. Which makes life so much simpler when changing batteries, and also allows for better CG adjustment.

I did find that one set of my packs 6s 5200mAh) are too large to go between the frames, so I will not be able to use those batteries on this helicopter now. But that`s ok. I like the 4500mAh pack more anyway.

The conversion adds about 1/2" (13mm) to the height of the helicopter, but it is not noticeable in flight. Also, there is no need to purchase the FZ canopy (unless you just want it) because the original canopy goes right on with no problems.

I also changed out the motor while I had the helicopter apart. I pulled out the Scorpion 4035-560kv, and installed a Scorpion 4525-520kv. But that`s another post, for another thread. :D

Yes...it`s much better for that now. What used to take me 2-3 minutes has been reduced to mere seconds, and I don`t have to guess at CG anymore.
