    So how long until ....

Out of all the helis on the market, I would have thought the goblin line would be the easiest to clone.

" Not saying it should happen ", But really if i was in China and wanted to clone a heli, SAB would be the go to brand, They seem to be the biggest sellers now. As a maker of clones you would do well out of it for sure....

So why has it not happened, Is there not enough sales in the rcheli industries anymore for the clone makers to get involved.

I'm surprised they have not jumped all over the SAB brand by now .. Again , NOT supporting it at all, just wondering what your thoughts are on why it has not happened.

And when i say clone, I'm not talking about looking the same, I mean Drive train and everything ...

That does raise an interesting question. Those Asians manage to copy everything else. In some cases they buy license to manufacture " clones" of certain products (Honda engines for example). I would suspect someone over there is already working up some kind of SAB clone, but without proper license and technical specs, they would have to go the longer route of reverse-engineering and blueprinting everything to be able to tool-up for the manufacturing process.

It seems that is has been done. Here is a test video of a ALZRC Devil Fast 380. Looks to be an exact duplicate of the Goblin 380.

HOLY SHIZ this is really IMO wrong. Did you see the link on facebook? RC HELITALK had a discussion about it tonight. have a look at the photos.... Blatant rip off..How can they legally get away with this? I think it might end up like the kbar saga. I hope it does because stealing designs to the mm is IMO theft.

First, old mates computer would need to be taken to the nearest apple shop so his keyboard could be cleaned by a mac genius.

There are two major technical issues with cloning goblins.

The tail boom won't be cheap to produce, therefore they won't be able to make a fraction of the price clone.

Also the drive train would be a bit more complex than an align trex, again pushing up the production price.

So although they could clone it, the price tag might not end up being a typical clone price tag.

Unless a clone is much cheaper, people will go with the original.

The price of a good heli is mainly in the electrics (servos, motor, speedy esc) This will probably be about 250 USD, so the in the total cost it's only going to be 200 cheaper. I think a G380 would cost about 1500 all up, so with the clone about 1300 all up. Give me the original any day.

Well.... when are the clone guys going to learn. If they used high quality metal, bearings and other components then they would easily smash the orginal designers. But looking at the homepage for these components it looks as if many of the metal bits appear to be cast aluminum. You can see the pitting on the actual metal - its not smooth. The frame looks to be thicker on the devil and the canopies and booms would come from fsuno i imagine. Some parts might be ok as backups (maybe frames) but i would not use any cast metal piece in this machine. And the bearings as well? hmmm. By the time you do the makeover with orig gobby parts it might end up costing the same.

I think mark was wondering if you realized the photo was a clone and not the original. But anyway have alook at the vendors facebook page https://www.facebook.com/alzrchobby...0.1443489341./415908471953666/?type=3&theater

Here are some more photos of the parts... With exception of the main shaft hub (first pic), many of these parts look like cast aluminum - you can sort of see the pits. What does everyone else think? If its cast then I would never trust these in a HP setup..

Well might be ok in low performance setup. What normally happens is that people buy the cheap kits, figure out what works and swap the necessary parts with the original higher quality parts....

Right, and cast aluminum really no better than plastic in some cases. I'll have to watch for that.

You guys are gonna laugh and please dont. I just purchased a goblin 380 clone the Alzrc 380 devil "Captain America edition "I'll post some pics at the bottom so you can inspect the parts and see for yourselves that the quality I swear is really good much much better then I anticipated. Heres the good part you can swap out parts with
S.A.B and put them on your Alzrc.
I really wish I had the money
To buy a 480 Goblin. She's beautiful but expensive .

By experience, that's the good/bad thing about clones. You might get in cheap in the beginning, but all said and done, by the time you go back through and upgrade the important parts with genuine brand-name parts, its almost worth having bought a genuine kit from the start. I have a year of experience that had taught me much pertaining to clones, but it is also priceless experience that I can't say I regret.

Yes agreed but a 700 S.A.B. will run you upwards of 2000 dollars and that's some serious money. I had to look for an alternative because I am still fairly new I am new to collective pitch helicopters. I am only 7 months in and I just got past the Hovering phase and on to better moves lol
