I actually know how hard it can be to transition from mode1 to mode2. It is still quicker than learning from scratch - but you must be prepared to go through many months of frustrating dumbthumbs untill the brain is totally re-trained. Use a sim - committ 100% - do not attempt a hover untill you can do everything on the simulator. Then - and only then will you transition without issues. It normally takes a few months of training on the sim - every night for an hour or so.
