That is truly amazing.... imagine jet powered flight, using your body to steer and traveling at super fast speeds.

@utrinque , nice videos, but can you please delete that last video of Dwaine Weston getting killed - out of respect. Put this one on instead. Dwaine was a legend of the base jumping community and an Australian.
      RIP Dwaine Weston

Np @simon agree. Thanks for the videos @utrinque they are great. We just removed the last one out of respect. He was an awesome pilot. Such a shame, although living on the edge, the probability of accidents are much higher.

      I am sorry.

Lack of respect was not my intention at all.

I like to watch proximity flying and base jump videos.

I am sure those involved know the risk.

Regarding RC safety... I will never forget RIP Roman photo.

I was aware that 700 heli is dangerous before but I changed my my flying style after seeing this photo.

If such horrible accidents can make us more carefull and safe we should keep them in memory.

      Sorry once again.

      Flying without motor, engine:

I can not stop thinking how inefficient our heli are.

Sailplanes without motor can fly 800 km/h. (dynamic soaring)

Hyperbipe is using small 1Ah 3S lip and is quite fast due to low weight.

12S 4.5Ah setup for 700 looks rediculous in comparison.

I did not say I do not like this sound of wasted Amps. ; P

Maybe I should move to kites?

It might be to do with kenetc energy. when a plan flys its movement is one direction with gradual changes (usually) - no hovering - so the kenetic energy is stored in the craft and it uses this forward energy to create lift which then opposes gravity hence gliding. A hovering craft requires a rotary wing (usually) and this is always fighting against gravity. Also if the wing is not spinning the wing doesnt exist. These two factors alone greatly affect efficiency.

I like kites - I used to fly Prism kites and there was one called the Pshycho

Yes boats are fun.. Sail boats take skill to get right. The flexible kites are really good as well, the stackers have incredible lifting power.

Kite above is pretty quick, I used to fly a revolution quad line, might dust it off after this thread. Good fun going underwater or doing dive bombs and instant stop into a hover just above the ground
