Up until the end of last month i would wake up religiously practice new moves on the sim every morning and then sim again in evening. This would be my daily routine. New moves first light and freestyle and linking moves in the evening.

I would always wake up with a profound itch of wanting the weekend to roll up quickly and when it did arrive would always try to get there early and spend both days flying.

Lately i dont feel it anymore. I still sim but dont have the same drive to get to the field as i used to.

Maybe im getting over flying, maybe im just too busy.... dont know anymore.. is this just a phase of flying? .. almost 2 years now...

Looking for some motivation to help me get going again.

OK i think every pilot will go through this at some time. And some people do drop out as a result. The thing to do is to try and identify what brought you into the hobby in the first place. What used to fuel your desire to want to return and continue to fly and learn? Was it watching someone and wishing that you could fly like them? Or was it fascination? For me it was the manifestation of my emotions translated into heli flight (howz that one for ya!). Personally i dont fly for the crowd... i like to fly to the point where i get an Adrenalin rush - that's what keeps me going. I also use my flying as an escape - to distract my self from the pressures of life. So my job at the moment does not allow me to fly or sim as much - but i still love flying and even though my timing is not as good as it could be - i accept that and enjoy it for what it is. Sometimes - when you feel like this - try something different. Big speed runs for example... mix up your style. Try Fast banking figure 8s - anything to break away from your existing style that might responsible for making you feel the way you do. Also don't pressure yourself into flying - let the passion find you...

I'm not up to the 2 year mark yet but I just love to fly...... hardly ever sim. I fly big air with some flips, rolls, tic tocs etc..... It's just great to get away from everything, the thing I love about flying is you are on your own, no one or nothing else to think about.....Its a great escape!! I get such a huge buzz when I have finished and driving home after flying.

Try a new Heli..... something different!!!

I hear you @gonehelimad , I flew back from the HG KS Funfly all motivated, but that dissolved instantly as I returned to the chores of work and a rocky home life.
Its hard to maintain the enthusiasm all the time, especially with external factors, and even with heli related factors - ie. hitting a skill wall, noone to fly with, nothing to fly due to maintanance that ya can't seem to get to doing during the week before the weekend etc.
Every time I find myself getting to the field I enjoy it, and always return home motivated.
Being busy or tired gets in the way of simming, and so I find myself not learning new moves quick enough to make each trip to the field different (different as in growing skills).

I keep reminding myself to be patient, up's and down's is all it is. This hobby is well worth while sticking at, making a long-term experience out of it.
It is what you make of it, but going 110% at it all the time is something I cannot see as sustainable, balance and patience to know when the good times are to be had and taking advantage of them when it suits your mood ;):)

Sometimes @gonehelimad you can become stale because you think you cant progress anymore. I found that sometimes picking another trick to learn helps. And if you think you have learned most of them - trust me - no one, not even the best of the best heli pilots knows all the tricks or can do them in any position. For example a piroflip - start reversing them. Or find another trick that really tickles your fancy. That can help as well.

      Thanks for all the feedback.

@smakmeharder what fuels my flying is the idea that one day ill fly just as good as you @3dmick @MickyD @brent77 just to name a few of the super talented pilots at our club and being able to do some of the awesome tricks that i see others doing also. You all know what i mean.... the type of flying that makes the hair on the back of your neck standup with sheer exhilaration. Another way to put it is walking off the flight line shaking and your heart pounding due to being closer to edge than your last flight.

@Ozzy Mozzy totally agree. Flying for me also acts as a relief from work stresses and i used to always leave the club with an overwhelming desire to go back and keep flying or hanging for the following week to try new things out.

@3dmick . Exactly right. That sums up my personality perfectly. Its either 100% or nothing. Its the same for gym for me. Either im eating right sleeping right training right or i dont do it at all. Reason why i stopped for 2 years but now im back again. Lol go heavy or go home as they say in the gym world.

I think a partial break will probably do me some good. I say partial as i hope to still pop down to the club for a quick flight or two now and then as suggested by @3dmick, and @Manyc have a chat and laugh as opposed to spending most of the weekend flying.

Ill be away for most of the christmas break so no doubt ill come back re energized and hopefully ready to hit it hard again next year.

You already are as good Nabil! its just that your flying as good in - "in your own way" and all of us fly differently - all of us have a signature moves and you are flying just as good as any of us. What is good anyway? Good is what puts a smile on your face! I like hard - fast and changing (pogos etc). Mick likes loud big hard and fast We all are different..

Hey Nabil, I have seen you fly the past 8 - 12 months and you have progressed at an incredible rate!
You have an awesome club to go to, the boys which I miss dearly after baby cone into my life make this phase your in go away quickly. It's a busy time of year so nit much flying is done. Take little rest, it will feel like you you will take a step or two backwards but within 2 weeks of flying again you will progress 4 steps of where you were!
Your flying is awesome dude! Right up there!!

Nabil, we're not flying for sheep stations just out for a cracking time.

I feel like I've just come out of my heli hibernation, after a good 4 years since flying regularly I now feel fully engaged and ready to catch up for lost time. During the break I never gave up, sure I became a stranger down the club on the odd afternoon I'd rock up and punch out a couple of flight, but I always identified the fact that I was stepping back and allocating my spare time to my family.

I always knew I'd come back at some stage and after Wagga this year I reacquired the itch. Nothing like spending the weekend with a great bunch of blokes and laughing from sun up to last drinks - that to me is what the hobby is all about..... getting to fly kick arse heli's is just a bonus.

Yes thats true @Ben. The people also make the club and its good to chat and just watch other peoples flying sometimes (and steal their tricks :)) - And yes Nabil the comps help re-energise, especially when you have a great pilot to show you whats possible. Looking at @josh and @Min, we already have that level of talent in Australia. And not to mention Rhys! He could potentially be the best heli pilot in the world if he keeps the same enthusiasm into his teen years.
