Okay, so who used the prescribed Loctite 648 for mounting their bearings? If not then what did you use?

Finally got the little gobbler ready for the fun fly tomorrow.

Have only had a test hover in the back yard just on dusk tonight, so will need to do some tuning and gov setup tomorrow. Can't freakin' wait!

Hellelujah, although I didn't give him much of a chance to snatch her out of my control. ;) I've sorted my gov issues now (on the bench) and just waiting for the wind to die down so that I can give her a good shake down.

It was a great day even though I hardly got any air time. I had far more enjoyment catching up with you guys from the forum and watching some decent pilots fly though. It was great how the @ZEN RC boys (@Kyle Orrock, @josh, @3dmick) and the other 380 pilots (@smakmeharder, @The Dude) had plenty of tips and advice on the 380, much appreciated fellas.

Can't wait until the next one!

Neither can we! When I looked accross the fields (even though i could hardly see out of the mask) - The TALENT was unreal! And it didnt mater if you were good or not people were just as interested!. And thats what its all about. Personally I enjoy watching someone fly no matter what stage they are at. Almost every time @Crash Heligod steals my helicopters JUST prior to the event! Hopefully next time i can get a few flights in!

Well done Matt. I just finished building a 380 too, very similar setup.
just about to maiden mine but on bench testing my motor doesnt seem to be spinning very fast.
using a koby 90 with the xnova 2820 and 22t pulley. Not sure whether to try another esc and see if any better. Same thing happened on another 380 I had that i changed the castle esc to a koby and it just seemed like i had much lower headspeed. Not sure if anyone else has any experience with koby and xnova on the 380? whether i need to change settings manually? what esc are you using?
      cheers

Check settings in your radio as well...len

When setting speedy you gotta have 0 - 100 on your throttle curve

I'm running the Hobbywing 50 with my 2820 and just the stock 21T pinion with a target RPM of about 3100 at this stage. I'll probably give the 23T pinion a shot later on and step the RPM up to 3400 or so.

What RPM are you chasing Len? The manual says to expect a max of 3400 with a Koby '70' when running a 22T pinion, so I guess your Koby 90 should perform at least to that spec. Your symptoms sound like the throttle end points are not set properly, but it could be other factors. Below is what Xnova recommends for their motors when using a Kontronik ESC although I have read elsewhere that the Kontronik auto settings (Mode 1 then Mode 4) should work well for the 2820. RI (RM) for the 2820-890 is 34

      Kontronik ESC :

Reset ESC by Mode 1, then use Autotiming Mode 4.

KOSMIK expert-setup sample for XTS-4530-480KV Motor: Mode 1 , then Mode 4. Go to advanced settings and select RI compensation= 12 ( this is the RM number of the XTS-4530-480kv motor which can be found for all our motors under technically details). P gain increase from 4 to 5.

( this is a advanced setup sample. the basic setup Mode 1 then Mode 4 will satisfied most pilots )

Mark and Rays motors are the 3215 Tareq's. Shouldn't be any different as far as the Koby goes, but they do have a little less resistance in the windings than the 2820.

i did mode 1,4 again and seemed similar. But i did a quick hover in the yard and i think its ok. Just seemed very tame for 3k rpm.
But it seems ok, not crazy powerful at 65% but will try test it out properly during the week.
If anyone is using vbar would be great to know what cyclic and tail gains you are running.
      Thanks guys much appreciated :)

Just another thought @Finky, are you sure you have the 22T pinion and not the stock 21T? If you are expecting 3000 with the 22 you would only be getting 2860 with a 21 at your 65% throttle curve.
