I have wondered the same thing, not looked into them yet, but keep in mind, One area where they can cut significant cost is in cheap gears (Soft material ).. Are they brushless or brushed ?

They are brushless with Titanium gears.

We are looking to stock them shortly. $145 for the coloured Ribbed version and $130 for the plain coloured metal case.

Ok, I dont know so much about OMG servos but have you looked at the BK servos? I love fast servos - stupidly fast servos - and these are the real deal! Ask @3dmick how they perform! I have never seen @3dmick do ticktocks like a madman since he installed these servos. They are MAD fast. @Zen sell them for $120 ish and they are a good supplier (they must be a good supplier, they sponsored HeliGods! Send them a PM). Highly recommended from what i have seen!

Here is a video showing OMG servos... They are not as fast as BK.

And here is a test on BK servos, showing the speed...

I quite like them as well... they are however not brushless but brushed... that said I love em... don't be surprised if I get a set for the 700.

If you require more speed, wouldn't you increase the agility settings in FBI unit rather than buy a new set of servos?

Probably... just like em... I'm on no rush... but if the servos fail in the 700 they would go on to replace em..

I am sure you could but that affects gains etc... As I understand it, these servos are really fast without adjusting anything else differently so for fast moves it gives you more overhead. You gotta see them to believe them. @3dmick confirm if your FBL settings are different or similar to your other helis...

Not in vbar, agility is a stand alone setting. I have really old 451's and they move really quick

Appologies Jeff I am not an expert with Vbar, mainly futaba. I was only going on visuals from seeing a few helis with the BKs...

BK will speed up your response time but will not increase your flip and roll rate. No matter how fast the servos move, once the swash has reached full defection you cant go any faster. Its like running a faster tail servo to speed up your piro rate, just doesn't work like that.

The OMG servos aren't price competitive when compared to the BK/RJX offering. The specs are overall decent, but not high enough to make you go "wow".

I've already got a set, tried them out, and subsequently removed them from my heli. The gear train has some slop from brand new (remember the JR 8717's? its like that)

The servos themselves flew fine, didn't feel sloppy or anything like that, but it just sort of came below my expectations when you're looking to fork out thousands of dollars for a bunch of sets and then try and do the hard sell on your customers.

They seem to be popular with the drift RC cars, so if you want to cater for that market I say go for it and good luck to you.

Why didn't you return them, they all couldn't be like that?

They were all a bit like that, but that one was the worst. They asked me to check if the bearing was in the top case which it was, I guess it comes down to machining tolerances.

Return them? nah, I'm too lazy. But those servos @ $135 USD a pop aren't exactly cheap, and when you're looking to fork out $150+ AUD for a servo, you may as well just go something proven like Futaba.

Don't let my experience turn you off completely, the newer "ribbed" style cased ones that look like the MKS X8's may be completely different. If I were you, I would get one/two sample sets and experience them for yourself. Report back here with your findings
