How much time do you spend fixing your helis, flying and purchasing? For me personally its been a struggle lately due to work commitments but once i become a millionaire that's all going to change.

    So per week:

Maintenance: 0 (i have been spoiled by 380)
    Flying 2 hours - maybe 3
Sim - only a couple of times per week at the moment.

    So whats your current quota?

Just had a cracking session down the heliclub for 2 hours! was super fun! And @bradshaw hopefully the missus understands..... And @MickyD i feel your pain! Just unavoidable unfortunately. @Ozzy Mozzy with the helis you have i would practically live down the club!

I knew someone like that. The next time he came out to the club was to sell his models. Hope your wife is the understanding type.

Maintenance - When needed, but inspect my heli's after each day's flying.
Flying - Depends on the weather, but every weekend if possible.
Sim - Tried it, but get bored too easily.

How do you determine the amount of commitment to the hobby?

      Bought a month ago. ( I know it's not a heli)

Then a week later after the Aus Nats,

Total investment of around $4K. You'll notice my workshop is my kitchen. I have a VERY understanding wife.

In one year, I've gone from ordering my first real 450 (clone) kit, to a nice Protos.
With the clone, I frequently repaired crash damage and upgrading to Align parts. Fly, crash, rebuild, order parts, fly, crash, rebuild........
Having put in plenty of sim time and actual flight time, crashing is no longer as much of an issue.
      Enter the Mini Protos.....
I flew it fly-barred at first, then went FBL. I haven't felt the need to modify or upgrade anything. I just fly it as it.
In the last few months since I began flying Protos, I haven't had to implement any damage control procedures, replace or upgrade any parts. (I wont say it out in the open..... The Evil Osteological Enigma might notice)
      Commitments:
      More SIM time (winter approaching)
      Learn more maneuvers
Upgrade to 6S (have 1300Kv motor already)
Join local club after first of year.
Aquire a 500 or larger heli sometime next year.

      For me it`s as follows:

Maintenance: I do a thorough mechanical inspection after each day`s flying session. I check all ball links, screws, gears, blades...ect. I also check a very critical, and often overlooked component.....the gyro tape. I make sure it`s still holding the gyro securely, and not peeling up or drying out. I also drop a little Dry fluids lube in the bearings after ever 10-15 flights, and scorpion motor oil in the motors after every 5-6 flights. Nitro helicopters get the same, and also get their engines rebuilt at the end of every fun fly season.

Flying: I put a lot of time into flying. During the summer, I fly pretty much 7 days a week. I go to the field every Saturday and Sunday, and I fly after work Monday-Friday as well. During the winter months, I usually only get to fly on weekends because the short days prevent me from making it to the field before dark.....I see a night ship in my future.

Simulator: Three to four nights per week, because I do online instruction for new pilots who are just getting started. We meet on RF7.5, and train for 1-1.5 hours at a time, or until they start to lose focus. Right now I have two students, who are progressing very well.
