Definitely good fun that. I ran, organized and sponsored the first Mower race here on the Gold Coast about 6 years ago. We had a lot of interest and guys and girls came from all over the State. We probably had around 20 teams turn up.

Ah yea! That's a sharp looking rig.
They do have an organized series near here that they call "Grascar". I just found out yesterday. I may have to investigate further.

you should be able to use a golf cart transmission so it can be automatic..since a lot of golf carts have lawn mower engines.

Right... I've worked on EZ-Go golf carts that had 14HP Kohler engines and variable ratio belt drives. Those same type variable belt drives could be found in the old Honda Odyssey buggy's years ago. I was thinking of using a variable belt drive system as used on some newer models of lawn mower, and incorporate that into the existing primary belt drive system I'm running now. I would effectively have a dual-range ratio that could be set for any size track.

It's nice to have a wife that enables my addiction. "Why don't you get a boat for the pool?" She said! :p

I can't wait to get it out on a pond in some open water...... In the pool, I have to slow down just when it's starting to plane-up!

We have a couple of guys here who have boats as well. Some big ones and they race (bash) each other. @3dmick and @bjay415 often hit the local "patto river" and tear it up. Be prepared to get wet however, sometimes things go wrong.

That makes sense. At around $50 RTR, that's actually doable.
I won't be going on too big of water that I couldn't wait 10 minutes or so for it to drift ashore. It's mainly for thrashing about the pool. :D

I'm not sure how he does it, but I already have a plan for if I get a 2nd boat. Fabricate some lightweight removable grappling arms for the front..... and push with it.

Hahaha just get some fishing line do a lap around the over turned boat it will get caught in the rudder and then pull them both in we do it all the time work well A pool is to small you need a big open area with no weeds and stuff so when the boat flips over you can get to it onshore winds are good
      And flat water

The fortunate thing is that in my work with full size boats, the same general physics will apply to the little ones. The FT009 seems to handle much like Sea-doos and Wave-runners I've rode.

You know me..... I can't leave well enough alone. I fabricated a makeshift "jet pump housing" for the prop after noticing the straight prop-shaft out of the stern doesn't fully submerge the prop, so I figured, why not try to guide the water up around the prop?
So far, it seems to working. There is some slight cavitation at extreme slow speed, but once it gets moving just a bit and starts scooping up water, it takes off like a shot! The original idea was to even out the turning ability, because the side thrust of the prop half submerged made for great right turns, but left radius was Shiz. The duct work seems to have improved on that as well. IMG_20160725_210430785_HDR.jpg IMG_20160725_210444326_HDR.jpg ..... it's the top section of a plastic Tylenol bottle. :D
