Info What Drives You Up The Wall ?

    Just wondered what a list of things are 'That drive you up the wall for heli setup's or repairs"

    Im sure everybody has a ton of things they can add. Ill start with a few basic ones.

    These can be anything you have found to be a PITA, issues while at the workbench, things you wish you had or hadn't done looking back, and so on ....

    1) Starting out with cheap clone heli's, this is probably the first and foremost thing I wish I hadn't done. It will cost you more in the long run and will foster many hours of headaches.

    2) Flying a 3g(x). IMO nuthin but headaches, It was a much older version... I hated it..

    3) Changing the belts on my belted heli's, not a hard job but i just hate doing it...

    4) Wiring, I spend way to much time on it..

      So far in my heli building LOCTITE is a hands down winner. I am slow learning what the term "little" means when used in conjunction with LOCTITE.

      I have locked up sevo she's, tail mechanisms, stripped hex head screws and my recent fail was quick release bocca canopy clips...

      Arrrgh!! LOCTITE...

      Tight turn buckles that pop off or no turn buckles and having to pop off the link for adjustments.

      Setting the blade pitch with a digital pitch gauge. I have an Align gauge and it seems to give different answers based on who knows what. On my Goblin I finally just used the marks on the blade grips and it worked better!

      Round Head bolts on CF frames... they Annoy the shiz out of me... strip way too easily..
      Have to replace them with CAP heads on any heli I get...

      Stuart - a "little" means the first 2-3 threads only on a screw and the Loctite is only as deep as the threads themselves.
      Briefly touch the screw with Loctite on it with the tip of your finger to let excess flow off - you only want Loctite to be thread deep - if it's higer
      than the threads, it's too much... and only 2-3 threads with Loctite on them - that's enough!

      Learning this the hard way.... Am prepared with new loctite skills for my next build. Pain and frustration are good teachers. ....

      I cant agree more Stuart. I was never this way until I brought a helicopter from someone who used super super super heat resistant super strong loctite on every single bolt! it was almost impossible not to destroy the heli when disassembling parts. I normally use medium strength loctite and have never had an issue.
