Well Ben after trying to test your Auto Rescue, I thought it might be beneficial to provide you with a little adrenalin dump. After all what's better than maidening a heli? I can tell you.... maidening a heli, testing the rescue function and discovering it was not set up properly!

Your original claim on insurance enabled you to buy another heli (a long story for those who dont know) - however I made sure the RACV do not cover you for heli CRASH insurance. They wont be there for you this time Ben! Through selfless actions I intend to help everyone by stimulating the economy and returning the country into surplus! muah ha ha ha.....thank you Ben... stimulate us!

That's a pisser, oh at least I know who's to blame - I was thinking it was my bloody stupidity, why did I give rescue a go.

Oh well at least it's only cost me a set of blades, well one blade but the undamaged one can't fly on it's own. I think I have half the field in my sink, bloody gunk everywhere. She'll back to looking all pretty and will hopefully have the blades before too long.

Oh for those playing along at home - I believe I've discovered the reason for the motor-cut. Seems on the fandangle VControl that it's not a good idea to have the rescue and security features linked to the same switch, 3 position switch POS1 was active, Center and POS2 were secure - Center just happen to be rescue as well. It's so bloody obviously looking at it after the fact.

That sounds like a mistake I would make. :p

Its easy to do! Using auto recovery is great IF you can remember which button it is and IF it is setup right. I have seen morey helis crashed from using auto recovery than saved. BUT if you do set it up right and train your self to hit the right switch then its a great learning tool no doubt.

Though as you also mentioned, and as per the case of this thread, it is human setup error that causes the crash.
Maybe 1% of cases where it is a hardware/software issue.
Rescue is a great tool, and is here to stay.
Use it, don't use it - either way it will always be there for you :)

I will remain rescue free and rely on brain rescue. The real brain that is.

I wouldn't have put much consideration toward "rescue", but having discovered the price points of Brain/Ikon V1 are within my reach, I'm going that route... regardless of the self-leveling feature, which is more of a bonus than a requirement for me.
