Binding means you have to link the receiver to the transmitter so they can communicate with each other. With transmitters like Spektrum, you would place what is known as a bind plug ( a servo connector with a wire loop that connects the ground and signal ports on the plug) into the bind port on the receiver. Once you have the bind plug in place, you power the receiver. The status light should be blinking at this point. then you hold the bind button on the transmitter in and turn the transmitter on. When the bind process is complete, the status light on the receiver will go from blinking to solid.

The helicopter should come with detailed instructions on how to perform the binding process, but if not, there are plenty of folk here who can guide you through it. Hope this helps.

That's what I meant earlier by RTF (ready to fly... Transmitter included)
BNF= bind to transmitter you already have.
Saves from having to buy multiple radios.

I got my first Tx with the 120Sr RTF, it was a DX4e.
Since then, I've bought a Nano CPx, an AR400 Rx that I use on the big Syma coaxial, and the CX450SE-v3 that has DSMx satellite Rx installed. That's 4 different birds I fly with only one DX4e.
Getting a good Tx the first time pays off when you buy a second Heli as BNF. My next Tx will probably be a DX6i as well, as I am about due for an upgrade.

The DX6 and the DX6i are essentially the same, but the DX6 has more "bells and whistles" to it. All three are good radios. The DX7 has pretty much everything you need for functionality and compatibility with virtually anything. General rule is, the more channels you have, the more flexibility you have available to assign controls and switch functions to any given model.... especially larger and/or more complex models. If you plan to get into flying in a serious way, you might want to go for the DX7.

Some pawn shops have layaway where you can put a down payment on it and they will hold it for you.

beaver..do you know if the toggle switches are 3 way on the dx6 like the dx6i has? just in case that one is gone Monday..

 

If I'm not mistaken, the controls and switches are the same between the two, but the DX6i is missing a few things like the voice notifications and a few other extra features.

Looking at the comparison chart, the DX6i has no 3-position toggles!
The DX6 in manuals section says the specific program for the 230s has to be downloaded to the radio. I did not know that.

 

you sure..i was watching some binding vids on youtube last night and could have swore the 6i had 3 or 4 3 way switches because they were programming it for the 3 different flying levels on the heli to the way switches..i'll have to check again..
