The new anticipated 500 size heli from compass. The original atom is still an incredible work horse and a power house in the air, even with its NQR geometry it flys well!

The exo500 will be showing at this years Rotor Live 12-13th in Germany.

Quotes from Seb :" Hello Guys, It will be something really new. Some facts: - 10mm hollow mainshaft - full belt driven - able to take all kinds of blades - rotor head is a mix of Chronos geometry and warp - tail control rod is invisbile - no sab boom style - very new design on the frame and canopy - easy for maintenance - 6mm ultrashort tailshaft - smallest part count of all 500 right now Greatings Sebastian

The battery will be attached to the frame with a special quick release and can be changed in like 3s without removing the canopy. Most batteries up to 4500mAh will fit. Maybe even some smaller 5000th"

    "Hello,

it is htd 3mm for the tailrotor. The mainpully is sts 2mm and the belt is higher than on the HD500 and the pulley is also a little bigger (150T).

    Sebastian"

"At the ROTOR Live we will not have a kit for sale but we will have a price for the model.

The tail blade grips will be aluminium. The plastic one is in small production indeed more expansive, but in bigger volume the aluminium is for sure. The reason I used alumium is the big bearings. I don't wanted to have way bigger grips on that small helicopter. The bearings and the hub is the same as we use on the Chronos, 7HV Ultimate, 6HV Ultimate and 550 Ultimate.

And YES the grips and the slider are working on the other helicopters too, but need another tail shaft. We will offer it after the release! Some of our team will test it on the Chronos first.

@kpod: It is fully belt driven. We use a STS 2mm main belt and HTD3 tail belt."

"well it is more Chronos with something totally different.
Geometry is almost as perfect as possible."

I concur with @Beaver, that main pulley is wicked, how much power can that transfer? sky's the limit I'm guessing

Wow I love the look of this, I reckon this is one of the best looking helis i'v seen. I bet it would be expensive to crash though. It looks like in a crash the frame would snap somewhere between the motor and servos, and you would have to replace the entire frame.

Sweet photos! It's going to be hard to beat that's for sure. Will swing a max of 520mm blades. There will also be a fbl plate :) for those running gyros not capable of side mount.

The look is growing on me :)

Just can't help but worry about the impending WCFS (world carbon fibre shortage) when the MARCS boys get a hold of these kits ;) ;) ;)

That seems unusually precise for a mid sized heli and very resistant to boom strikes!

Will it stretch to 520-550 or is it a true 500 and only runs 500mm blades? 6S only or both 6S and 12S like the 6HV/550HV twins etc?

The frame is a huge departure from the norm; I wonder if it's strong enough to survive hard crashes as I imagine it's expensive to replace.

The interesting thing is that the 6HV is priced well so this theoretically should come in cheaper than that which potentially could make it the goto heli in the class/price range.

If you check out the compass website you can find USD pricing, which pretty much makes it the most expensive 500 in the universe! ;)

But it does fly well :)

Hmm...~$900AUD...two years ago, that was the cost of a 700.

That may seem ok considering the Goblin 500 is priced quite high at ~$900...but the Gaui X5 is about $650 and its larger sister the 6HV is only $690 (currently $550 which is massive bargain) with blades; I would have hoped it would have been cheaper than the 6HV at the very least.

O.k so here is what I know about the Exo500.
The frame - The frame (outer) is a made of carbon prepreg and combines HIGH STRENGTH. I asked the question that's on everyones mind, how will it handle a crash? Well, I was told that they would be very surprised if someone broke it as its super tough. Nothing is impossible hehe so how much is it if one does have the talent to taco it good? I was told it would be around the $60, not bad. A single side 500 frame is around $70. The exo has an internal frame for all the servos and pulleys.

My theory on the pricing is this.
      1.The quality is superb
2.Since it has the lowest part count ever there is not much to repair in case of a crash, so the initial price of the kit is higher.
      3. Design is unique
      4. No silly aftermarket upgrades needed. (not with any compass line-up)

Price? Who knows what the Price will be, Dean will put something up soon :>)
How does it compare with price? As failuretofly mentioned a Goblin is $830-$900, So I think the Exo sits in nicely.
