Probably wont need them all, but i'm gonna rape three and baby the other three until the raped ones have had it --then do the same to the babied

(wishful thinking, i know LoL--- i'll probably crash the hell out of this Chase eventually. @Crash Heligod will have his fix im sure of it!)

I'll post some videos VERY soon! I'm not the greatest, but i'm above decent i'd say. But, this is a whole different monster im gonna have to get used to the snappiness of the little beast before I start attempting to smak her around as i'd like.

This thing can overspeed pretty easy from what I hear

Gonna attempt some McDoogals and dismount autos so that'll be @Crash Heligod 's snack time

      lol

Just gotta be careful as overspeeding puts loads of stress on the OWB and other things...

I've seen videos where the tail explodes from ludicrious speeds

Utmost respect for these helis. Especially this violent, silent weapon.

It would be pretty cool to see a James Bond movie using this heli as a weapon, BUT only in the movies

I get the shakes sometimes with new helis. The mere sound of the blade farts and head speed naturally do it for me.

Plus, this thing is too pretty to crash!!

I'm getting a little worried now before maiden.

When i spool the motor by hand my 2nd stage belt (Part #5 below) rides up
as there is no lip on the top of the 2nd stage pinion (part #8 below).

Looking at the manual - there is a lip (top and bottom) on the one in the manual.. But mine only has a lip on the bottom.

Turning the front large pully by hand results in the belt below riding upwards and then scraping on the large front pully...

I will test with blades off once my ESC arrives of course - but I can't see how this is not going to happen in real life, especially when invesrted, unless i manage to tighten with a slight offset to force the belt downwards to the bottom lip instead..

Can others with the kit see if their 18T stage 2 pinion has one or 2 lips - don't get mixed with the motor pinion which is also 18T and has 2 lips..

Please let me know what your kit has..

PS: See part #8 below - has 2 lips but mine does not have the top lip.

My kit has only one lip on the second stage also. I looked for a washer or something to go on top, but couldn't find one of them either.

Not a good sign - unless you have PERFECT alignment the belt may ride upwards..
Luck of the draw I guess - or many attempts at aligning with a slight downwards offset.

KDS really need to supply a dual lipped version - would not cost any extra to produce and allows for a minor offset in build and for the unexpected builder to take off and have their belt rub away and melt the upper pully to bits in flight..

I see this as potentially the first "replacment" part that should be produced and sent out immediately..

Don't mean to be slack - the helis is magnificent in every aspect, just needs to be dealt with ASAP to keep the hype going in this beautiful heli.

Havn't heard from Geln yet - does he know about this issue ???

      Awww.... here we go.

      @jockstrap that makes total sense.

      Factory error?

I'm going to contact Allen tomorrow about this... Good thing they were delaying shipment until Monday. Probably easier to keep the kit, replace the part and then send it to me.

@Glen - Hope you chime in soon.. you're probably very busy

Wonder if KDSMODELSUSA is open tmrw

Even if they don't make one - hopefully an easy fix, needs a thin washer in there that's all, but should be tapered slightly.. but not much room for that taper..

Maybe an Alu tapered washer we could "press-fit" over the splines on that end - tight enough that a few tapes of a tiny hammer is needed and then would be tight - that would require no gap..

Hmm - might try make one on my lathe soon ;)

Let me know how it works out @jockstrap

Dont mean to be slack either, but I dont think we should have to do that

Gents, also don't forget the belt will always ride up to the highest point!

Hey guys, Yes KDS did make a mistake with the second stage pinions, I told them before the production kits went out, but it must have been lost in translation.
They have been aware of it for a week or so and have fixed the problem, i guess replacement parts will be on the way out by now for those that need it and already have kits.
Pionwave, (the poster on the HF link above) sent me a great little tip. He said turning the main belt over made it ride down the pinion instead of up the pinion.
Not ideal, but will get you in the air, no one has had problems without this flange yet as the belts ride down the pinion or they have added a washer (there is room).. I thought perhaps there was a flange or something in the kit that was ment to be used, But there was not.

Thanks for the update Glen... look forward to the new gear.

In the mean time I tried and experiment on my lathe - was only so so..
But for now - I think a washer 1.1-.12mm thick with a 10mm inner diameter
will do the trick - outside size doesn't matter too much but should be at least 13mm which is the size of the other side's flange..

That washer should fit inbetween the 2 gears as the plastic has a 10mm ridge on it - but it's somewhat tapered also..

Ran out of time tonight to make one and tomorrow's fathers day. So I'll try again soon..
