So im not the worlds greatest pilot, so whats the difference between a vbar and an Ikon or 3gx when it comes to flying?. Can you tell the difference or is it just insurance/placebo? Why do some people hate Vbar and others love them? is it because they are supposed to be simple to set up? or because they fly well.

Unlike my old AR7200BX where the slightest vibe caused a gradual drift... Very, VERY annoying. Sorting out vibes from an IMO "Subpar" Flybarless controller is what makes or breaks it for me.

Also, how well the tail holds under backwards flight and hard funnels and full speed circuits

I flew a 3GX on my Trex 600 and out of the box a Skookum 540 made it a much nicer machine to fly. I probably could have waded through the 3GX settings to get it just right but am happy with the 540's performance straight up. Aren't most of the higher end (cost wise) units similar in what they do for you especially if you are a sports flyer.

Yes you can get gyros that are more vibe resistant BUT, and its a very big but, the helicopter will not fly as well with vibes. It may fly but there is no way it will be flying to its potential. Just something to keep in mind.

@smakmeharder Oh of course... screw vibes! After a crash I always change every spindle, shaft and bearing I can change to make sure there are the most minimal vibes possible. It's just nice to know it can resist vibes to a certain extent

Very true, even on a flybarred helicopter. One day someone decided that my main blades where not tight enough on one of my helicopters, so they tightened them. I spooled up, you could notice an abnormal amount of vibes, then I took off, and straight away, you noticed how unpleasant it is to fly and harder to control.

Also, my lepton with its 425 mm blades seems to be smoother and easier to fly than my nitro with 600 mm blades, both have a V-bar. The lepton has a V-bar mini, the 600 mm nitro has a full sized V-Bar, which only has one wire going to the sensor (therefore one point of vibe introduction), double padding with a metal plate between the padding for extra vibration dampening. Thoeretcally the 600 mm nitro should be easier and more stable to fly than the 425, but I would put it down the the vibrations the nitro makes, its not easier to fly. However, due to the V-Bar the 600 mm nitro still flies well and its super fun.

If its going on the Nitro go a VX1.

Is has the seperate sensor and Nitro gov built in and is better for wiring up nitros.

      For electrics any are fine.

Pretty easy to setup im here to help if you run into trouble

      Go any of them @Manyc

The VX1 and VX1N have the pinpoint mems sensors same as a silverline vbar and CGY750

The new VX1E has the same sensor as Ikon/Brain/blueline vbar/beastx

Yup... this was posted while I wasnt completely sold on the Vortex VX1.....

      I already have a VX1 on the way :)

If it holds the tail with Bert Kammerers flying on stock settings then I shouldnt have to mess with it too much...

      Cant wait.

One thing i'm not too clear on is whether you need the DataPod to use the VX1 or if you can just use the GUI software.... Either way I bought the VX1+DataPod combo to be safe...

I would be nice to be able to hook her up to my lappy when on the bench at home

      Cheers, all!

Nobody Actually reads my whole post do they

      LoL

My next post will have more substance!!

gonna be the trex 550l i was supposed to return... But, I got the VX1 in yesterday and couldnt resist.

I maidened her yesterday.. gonna get a buddy to hold the camera tomorrow morning during the golden hour.. I'll post the video shortly thereafter.

I'm still getting the Chase 360 no matter what... I preordered the combo, just gotta find a way to get rid of this GPRO from the Trex and the EBAR when it arrives since I have an extra VX1 just waiting to jump the Chase 360's bones
