But the nicest heli I've had so far is my old Helseleit TDR - such a smoooth heli....
But unfortunately sold it...

 

Ive allways wanted to fly a TDR and see how it piroflips. It looks like it can turn on a dime and still be powerful and smooth. Very unique flying helicopter...

My recipe for cheap 2,95kg 700:
- HK600GT CF main frame (two halves) $28
- Align slant mod 1.9 main gear 112-118T
- Align main shaft mounts
- SK3 T700 480kV 3.8kW motor
- TGY 815 BLS for cyclics $56 each or $30 TGY 1267
- TGY 805 BLS for tail
- YEP 120A HV
- kbar
- YEP 20A SBEC
- tail from Assault 700 (boom, TT)
- tail cage from 600 PRO
- CF tail push rod from 600N
- ...

Try it. It is cheap. You'll get the idea why so many love 2,9kg TDR.

My colleague sold TDR. It has high tail ratio which is not good for smack. TDR was designed for lower RPMs, lighter lipos than novel 700 frames. It can handle crazy high RPM due to strong drive train but you do not need high RPM in TDR. TDR is good stretch platform but has very delicate main frame. Just check after crash photos.
