I fly this beast since January. In ten months I crashed it only once. It prooved to be very reliable heli with some Align parts. If you type in Google "Gartt 800" you will find whole story of this project. Now I can do rainbows and tic-tocs with this 800.

I am not the only one. My friend Benji after reading my thread on Polish forum also built 800 based on Assault 700 kit. He also flown it for months without issues. Actually idea to stretch it to 800 was mine but Benji was first to maiden it with 800mm blades.

Idea was simple. Get cheap frame. Put $30 Align stretch kit including longer boom, TT and tail push rod.

I am using 4.2kW Gartt 700 motor and it is strong enough. Lately Gartt released stronger 4.5kW motor for just $50.

I was able to get this kit for $175 without canopy directly from Gartt. I ended up with four airframes. Two of them are now 800s and flying, one is flying with 700mm blades and one I keep in the box as a source of spare parts.

Those who said it is Chinese shiz were wrong. Actually NMB bearings used by Gartt are excellent.

To make this clone kit as good as Align you have to replace only swash plate and main gear.

In 800 I have more Align parts for piece of mind.

All is described in my earlier thread on HF. There you'll find photos, videos, whole story in details. In want to move my story from HF to HeliGods because I do appreciate your great attitude and open mindness.

Actually my thread on HF was second most often viewed thread in 800 electric subforum. Not many pilots wrote in my thread but many were following my story.

Greetings from Poland to all HeliGods "community".

I do not have any issues with this bird so probably this thread will be quite silent. If anything happens I will update and share my thoughts. I plan to fly it again tomorrow. Today weather is not nice. I love to fly it in strong winds but rain, cloudy and cold weather make me hesitate. Many hundreds of flights it already survived. I am quite confident it will survive next year.

My friend Benji with his 800:

    Interesting interview with cosmologist:

She is exceptional. Worth to listen to this interview.

Assault stretch idea was mine but he was first who dared to maiden 800 and he pushed her really hard for over a year.

Few words about Hyperbipe I mentioned earlier.

It uses smaller lipo comparing to 700 and 800:

      I got PNF version and:
      - it took me 30 minutes to build this bipe
      - it has pretty strong servos but they are not very precise, nor center well. I would recommend faster more precie servos for serious aerobatics
      - with stock motor and ESC this bipe is extremely low weight that is Good ; ) floats like glider
      - 1Ah 3S lipo provide solid 5 minute flights
      - no unlimited vertical, to get this you need probably 4S but speed and agility is awesome anyway
      - it behaves extremely well in strong wind
      - do not go crazy with power or speed - ailerons can start to fluter
      - propeller hovering is easy, better servos would make it piece of cake.

      Final verdict... pure awesomness.

I did not record my video yet. I like this one:

I just received PM on RCGroups:

i read your whole thread about Assault700
      awesome stuff! like a personal diary....about helis[IMG]

hey, why did you leave HF? Hey I noticed a few posts you were posting about bearings replacements and I wanted to ask... (...)"

I will keep author's name confidential. I hope he is not angry I post his PM.

Definitely there is no such thing as heli community. There are fights, calling names, haters etc.

I really appreciate his kind words.

Did you notice frame is empty like there is no lipo! ;)
He is flying 6S and put it in the front. 9 minutes flight!

With one lipo it is very low weight heli. 800 TDR style :)
He did inverted grass cutting! Great pilot.

My new personal speed record 197km/h with 800 today:

Surprisingly motor was not even hot. I could touch it and hold in my palm.

I realized I talk to much about Gartt. Lets consider this project as terminated.

I will try to answer any questions you have. I will just fly my GARTTs.

Now it is time for me to learn to fly it better. I just got RealFlight 7.5 for bergain price.

Glad to see you bought a G380 @utrinque , you'll love it and understand what it's all about, that Gartt will be collecting dust now.

@simon it is not my 380.

Here is the owner of Goblin:

      This bipe is 75% scale.

Why would I want Goblin 380? :) Really.

Nice job with radiator. You have access to fancy tools.
      http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?p=6437222

I do prefer just to use available parts.

You got one Kontronik ESC, I got four Gartt 700 kits for simillar cash.

Your ESC cost almost as much as my 800 with electronics.

I am good with $200 180A HV YEP.

I build 700 lighter than TDR. Actually few of them. Old thread is called: "For me Align wins". You can Google it.

Title is slightly missleading because instead of stretching my Align 600 EFL PRO I used HK600GT frames. Trekker main gear fits and I used direct to swash setup with RJX 50 FBL head.

Looks like our paths are on opposite poles but I am glad to see another passionate RC pilot.

We have one more think in common. I did not fly TDR nor Banshee and you did not fly Gartt 800. I am not curious neither you are.
