    Hi guys

As I was more unlucky then lucky with Align because of quality differences of their shipping outputs and their "we are sorry to hear about your problems" politics in customer service I want to sell all my Align helis and build something new. Something realy precise, durable and with the ability for very low AND very high headspeeds. The brand should be well known because of the availability of spare parts. So no clones or small brands please. Im looking for a model size 600 upwards.

Im getting more and more into the world of hard smacking in real life this season and I realy love it. Its awesome to hear that hard blade farts. Muahahaha.. But I need a better machine now!

So if you wish, we could build the ultimative machine for me in this thread, maybe for some other people as well. I plan to buy it this year (maybe there is coming something new i didnt heard about?) and we should come around with $ 3 grand without tx and lipos. Yeah, Im looking for an electro machine.

First of I would like to know the brand you suggest and why. Then after choosing we could configure the electronics together. Are you with me? Yeah? Than lets go!

    Kind regards,

    iggy

      Lets do the math:
      - 700 combo with Vbar, Scorpion, YGE 160A ESC is 2000 Euro
      - you need servos Lets say 4x$150
      - radio? I assume you have one.
      - charger, power supply - do you have them? They are not particularly cheap
      - optional power generator 1kW $1000

Looks like you are short on budget... unless you want to get no lipos. Lipos are $700 for just 5 flights. 10x$70 cost of 6S 5Ah relatively cheap lipo. For each flight you need 2 of them.

3 grand is not much if you plan to fly Mikado 700.

maybe a shape 8, you get parts from freakware.de
which is close to you. shape make very nice helis, for very special heli this is my choice.

another option is a compass 7hv / chronos, flys really well and very solid design. I have many flights on mine.

Now lets consider an excerpt from the original message.

So we don't need lipo's and we dont need a radio.

Lets look at the Mikado 700 combo, around $2200 to $2300 USD.

It has the silver line v-bar, which has pin point sensors, so its got better vibration resistance.

It has a YGE 160 OEM xxtreme ESC, so its pre programmed for the xxtreme 700, the optional features which you should not use are disabled, so it makes it safer for the application.

      Scorpion engine, quality.

      Mikado also bundles decent blades.

So that leaves $700 to $800 left over for servos and miscellaneous items.

Just get HV servos and a HV receiver, and plug in a 2S Lipo or LifePO4 directly.

RJX servos are on the cheap end, but decent, then there is Futaba, you can't go wrong with Futaba.

I would say the Mikado super combo is a home run.

      Hi @utrinque

I have a DX18 and 6x 6S 5000 60c lipos and a junsi charger in my closet. So I just need the copter.

      @HungryHungryHippos

This combo will be my choice for sure. What about the VStabi? Can I plug in some Spektrum sats to bind with my DX18 or do I need to have an optional receiver?

      Kind regards,

      iggy

Spektrum sats will plug straight into the VBar & allow you to bind to your DX18.

This is what I want to hear @mr_squiggle thanks.

      So one last question guys:

Which servos can be abused most without getting sloppy? Mks? Futaba? Torque? BK? Savöx?

Any experiences from the rough pilots here?

I have had Futaba servos on my logo 500, I crashed, the logo frame was a write off, servos survived.

I have RJX HV servos on my Hirobo Freya, as its mechanical mixing, the collective servo was subject to severe abuse of binding for 5 minutes when I turned it on an couldn't figure out what was wrong because the head pins where caught on something. The RJX servo didnt feel anything.

      Thank you @HungryHungryHippos

I just know that the new Align servos are shiz. You touch the tail blades when they are powered and the tail servo dies immediately.

if you want cheepish servo's I have had good luck with BK servos.. almost did a re-kit on a goblin, and I only needed to replace the gears in 1 servo..
suggestions if you wanting to do it a bit cheaper are

      Cyclics: BK Coreless (7005)
      Tail : Futaba BLS276

Yes I know the tail is a bit on the pricey side.. but I have learnt, don't mess around with the tail.. get quality...

I agree with @Manyc for the tail. I only used RJX for the cyclics.

A good tail gyro will go along way.

I have an old JR DS8900G servo I bought it along time ago in the before FBL system time.

I got it as a bundle with a G770T tail single axis gyro, it was not cheap, but, the JR DS8900G is still performing well to this day.

I really like MKS servos and my second choice would be Torq servos. I have never (much) used Futaba, but I bet they are great too (I have one HV in the tail of a heli I have rarely flown so not enough experience to comment) , I'd stay away from align and savox servos. Savox have caused me two big crashes - only servo I have ever had an issue with. I think @HungryHungryHippos suggestion of a straight in pack like a 2S lipo or a LiFe is the way to go as well, I run straight in 2S lipo on all my helis except one which is a liFe, better than BEC's IMHO and if you loose you main pack you can still auto and land. I also run spectrum sats straight of me FBL's on all helis (bavarian, VBAR and AR7200 bx).
I'd also consider the Bavarain demon 3SX. Best rescue system on the market and a great FBL which is easy to set up.

I allways go for the fastest with the best torque... speed over torque however when its a tie between the two. Also i like a quality servo and the servos that ticked all the boxes was the futaba bls 272 for cyclic and bls 256 for tail. There are better models now.... Some people say you cant feel the difference. I definitely can when doing fast ticktocks or fast pirofips or fast pogos.

yeah but for 2 cyclics he would get all servos if he went BK.. so cost vs performance...

that said I have on the way some BLS275's on the way
