Ok... currently I am running a Quantum 4125-560 motor in my goblin 570. I upgraded it from a scorpion 4025-1100 6s motor. And while it has more power, I have never been hugely impressed by it... could be because its now a bit heavier, even tho I upped the head speed by 100-200 rpm when I put in the quantum, I just remember not being wowed by it....

anyway, always looking at other alternatives... but to be honest I'll see what difference the blackline blades make, as they should be a bit stiffer..

the two motors I am looking at are

    KDE 550XF 565 G3 - http://www.kdedirect.com/KDE550XF565G3.html
you need to watch the walk through of the G3 line... -

    Xnova 4025-560 - http://www.xnovamotors.com/xnova-4025-560kv/

Not saying I am going to go out and buy one... but its on my mind.... other than those two what else would be a contender? not really interested in the pyro.. but I could be convinced...

    Thoughts?

I have sent an email to KDE I think I will try the motor timing on 0 and put the PWM BACK TO 12KHZ
and see if that helps to lower the temp
      cheers mate

      Mick,

My KDE 700 ran hot but not like a scorpion….
The one in my logo so far is cool but it has only been flown on super cold days and not pushed far yet.

just changed the settings don't know if I will get time tomorrow to test it out
if it runs hot now I don't think it will last long when the weather starts getting better

Crash you need to backoff somewhat. Backup guards are awesome and have saved many people from donating their helis to your graveyard..

      XNOVA VS KDE SMAKDOWN CHALLENGE:

(Not all vids finished yet, be patient)

      WWE-Smackdown.jpg

Well two similar models with one experienced pilot vs one talented upcoming pilot puting the KDE and XNOVA motors through a subjective flight test. It was a fun comparison (i apologize in advance for the occasional swearing) and pretty hard to be definitely conclusive but we all felt that the XNOVA was better at sustaining the power and it also appeared to generate much less heat than the KDE. Both motors were silly powerful and performed admirably well. @3dmick is now selling his KDE and buying a XNOVA. @Manyc is walking around with a smile on his face. Here are the vids for your enjoyment....
