Rookie Mistake ... Thread Locked Canopy... How To Fix

    Rebuilding my TREX 500 I placed some thread lock on the quick release canopy clips where the connect to the frame. Clearly too much. They no longer release. He'd to use pliers to in screw the entire clip from the frame.

    So any suggestion on how I might be able to get them off without wrecking the canopy. I've tried using pliers but cannot get a solid grip on the outside. I suspect that the ball bearings are locked in place.

    I was thinking heat, but have not gone down that path completely yet. Am considering just soaking in rubbing alcohol over night.

      Heat is the Key net a lot about 100 degrees should do .
      Try heating it with a soldering iron.

      As @bjay415 said! Too much thread lock can be a really bad thing, believe me I know..I usually use medium strength thread lock as a rule.

      Heat it with a soldering iron as suggested, and cut a slot in the top of the stud with a dremel, use a screw driver in the stud and vice grips on the mount. Put some folded paper on the mount so you don't leave teeth marks (teeth marks on anything is no good!). Heat it fairly hot then turn the screw driver. Alcohol will do nothing, it won't penetrate.
      I have solved this problem with this approach myself

      Thanks guys.. Soldering iron did the trick, no damage to clips or canopy so all good.
      Rookie lives another day...
