yep i ordered the 22 tooth pulley. i get a higher headspeed then that in mr mel calc.
Is anyone going to use the belt tensioner or not necessary?

After seeing the aftermath of @The Dude's canopy dislodging from his 380 today (magnetic canopy mounts let go during backwards maneuver) I have added some velcro between the boom and canopy. I have only put a small amount for a start as I don't want to make it too hard to remove the canopy. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to run a couple of tests to see if I have applied enough.

@Kyle Orrock installed the belt tensioner into @3dmick's 380 on the weekend. I didn't see it fly, but on the bench it looks like a sweet piece of kit. I'm sure those two will be able to comment on it's performance.

Get one... It's that simple ! Functional bling... Seems to make the tail a bit smoother.. I was having some blowouts at times but now none. And anything that helps keep the belt on is a good thing

It's not shown in the stock photos, but there is a spring included as well. It's not strong enough to 'tension' the belt, but it will help pick up the slack if a bit of belt slap occurs during hard maneuvers.

This was my first ever build from scratch. Not so experienced, so is there an easy way to install the belt tensioner? :)
ive had a quick look at the instructions on the sab website, just dont want to have to disassemble more of it then i have to.

Just need to drop the belt off the pulley and use some tweezers or long needle nose pliers and hold your tongue in the right position.

Umm at the moment he is in QLD... If you are near MRCHC we could look at it for you but it would (at this stage) have to be on the weekend. What area are you having trouble with? See @MadBirds instruction above. Start by putting in the bearings in the belt guides first. Use the green loctight sparingly as shown. Do not get any in the bearing. Drop the belt so you can get access as shown in the diagram.

Speaking of green loctite (638, 648)... Make sure that the bearings in the swash follower/radius arms are retained with it or else you will probably develop slop in them at some stage.

The instructions look simple, it was more about easiest way to access the area without pulling too much apart.
Only other upgrades i installed were the metal servo mounts and lynx bell crank lever

I had a couple of flights with 380 this arvo to get some tuning done, but the weather kicked in and I didn't make much progress. The tail gain still needs more playing with to get it on the money and I'm sure the gov is giving it some bad symptoms. I think I'll turn the gov off tomorrow and get the tail sorted then I'll play with the gov gain to round out the package.

One thing I will say is that this thing is an absolute monster in the air. I can't believe how solid it's presence is compared to the Warp 360. Don't get me wrong the Warp is a great machine, but the 380 feels like a whole new size category.

I'm so happy with this heli!
