Today was a beautiful ...but cold day at the flying club. I was all alone, but I got in six flights on the X7 before calling it quits. My little friend Tony was there to keep me company though. Look closely at the tail boom of my helicopter and you`ll see him. He hangs out with me every time I go to the field. He will even go into the back of my car, if I leave the hatch up...lol When I go to the flight line, he follows me and sits on the starting table while I fly. Then he comes back to the pit and sits on my table. Not sure what type of bird he is, but he`s a cutie.

That is truly amazing @Geena! does tony do this to other people as well? I am convinced many animals are much smarter than we give them credit for.

First let me say that I found out what type of bird Tony is, and he is a she. So I guess her name is Toni now... :) She is a Common Yellow Throat.

She does not hang out with anyone but me, and all of the guys I fly with say that she does not even show up until my car is coming into the parking lot. They also tell me that when I leave she leaves too. I don`t know why she follows me around like that, but I think it`s cute.....and I really like her. She has been doing it for several months now. I have never fed her or anything, so there is no bribery involved. She is just a cool little bird.

There used to be a Bluejay at our field who would visit with us. One day "Jack" stopped visiting. I think he must have had a massive coronary from all the French Fries that we fed to him.

Well at Melb Radio Controlled Helicopter Club we used to have a magpie who would swoop everyone during mating season. I could count about 5 helicopters that went in during one spring. I think the magpie died of old age and had kids who hang around the field now. The kid magies have absolutely no fear of helicopters or helicopter pilots and just hang around and eat all of the food offerings.

I was sitting at one of the tables at the field today, and guess who came over to see me. She was only about 1/2 meter from me.

Safety first @Johnnybgoode , and our little avian friends will be good. We have some wedge tail eagles where we fly and in breeding season, the spotters main job is bird watch. I like all things that fly (planks excepted;))

Who ID'ed Toni, it looks like it could be a palm warbler, even though the distribution range suits the Common Yellow Throat a bit better.

No! That made for a bad visual! ..... Not a very effective way to paint your blades either.

I am a bit worried @Beaver. Look at the markings on @Geena`s blades! Did Toni used to have a friend?

One of the guys at the field said she was a yellow throat. But I think you are right. She does look like a Palm Warbler. Whatever she is, she`s a good little friend. :)

Thankfully, she stays away from it when it is on the flight line. She just sits on the starting table and watches me fly. :)

Today at the club, baby bungarra.

This little bugger will grow big and help keep the snake population at bay round the club
